Materials

Double-sided tape, sciccor, stapler, staples, one red string, one tassel, and eight red envelopes

Step 1

  • Make sure the cover of the envelope is facing you
  • Create creases at the center of each envelope's side and make sure the center of the cover is arching toward you

  • Fold one angle of the envelope toward you forming a triangle by using two consecutive creases as two bottom points of the triangle
  • Repeat the folding for the other three angles
  • Repeat step 2 for other 5 envelopes

  • Align two envelopes so that the folded triangle of each can be matched
  • Then staple them together

  • Continue to assemble the third red envelope with step 3, and form a "Y" at the center
  • After stapling the last two folded triangles together, let the red string go through the center of the three envelopes

  • Put the three envelopes Vertically on the table
  • Staple the forth envelope horizontally in between two vertical envelopes

  • Continue to horizontally assemble the other two envelopes

  • Tie the tassel at the end the red string

  • Before closing the three horizontal envelopes, remember to pull out the red string

  • Staple the three horizontal envelopes together

  • Cut the two designs from the rest two envelopes
  • You can use any designs from the envelope

  • Tape the two cutouts on the red strings by using the double-sided tape
  • The length between the cutouts and the body of the lantern is the same as the length between the tassel and the body
